Designing a Bathroom With Exquisite Marble
The rich and famous are not the only ones enjoying the style benefits of marble. In the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area, a local remodeling expert has been outfitting homes with marble for the past 20 years, becoming one of the leading residential marble experts in the east coast. A recent example of his work includes the use of Italian pink marble while matching furniture and appliances. This is how he did it.
Dmitriy Guzheyedov knows how to work with marble. Using traditional techniques he has been able to enhance the beauty of marble in home applications without looking too flashy.
Though Guzheyedov specializes in residential bathroom and kitchen remodeling, he has also done major commercial projects around the United States, etching his name into projects as far as Alabama and Florida.
During a recent project in a house of a client in New Jersey, his major concern was space: the house was so large that it had 3 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 8 fireplaces (one in each bathroom), 5 bedrooms and a backyard as large as 3 football fields. His project included remodeling the master bathroom with a rare type of Italian marble.
His client asked him to integrate the colors of the pink marble they had chosen with matching furniture. But his challenge was not how to get the perfect furniture for this room but rather how to make an all-marble bathroom design without going overboard.
The bathroom included a separate shower and a raised bathtub, a separate area for the toilet and the bidet, a his and hers vanity counter top with two separate mirrors, and a makeup vanity set with a large mirror.

To bring all of these elements together, Guzheyedov used medium-sized, square slabs of pale Italian marble for the floor, placing them on a diamond pattern, allowing him to seamlessly bring together all of the separate areas of the room while giving richness to the floor.
Pink marble has great textures that alternate from light to dark. According to Guzheyedov, to accomplish the best pattern you must take the time to create a complete picture of the surface of your bathroom so that you don’t get too many areas with light tiles. He continued this same pattern on the walls as well.

He then used dark Emperor Classic marble for the vanity counter tops, for the raised bathtub, to frame the fireplace, and for a continuous border throughout the floors and walls. This allowed for a richer look while dividing each area of this large bathroom in a tasteful manner.

For a more elegant approach for the bathtub area, he then created two classic-style pink marble columns which add a great frame to the large window that sits above the bathtub.

For the glass-enclosed shower Guzheyedov used smaller pieces of the Emperor Classic marble mixed with the pink Italian marble for the floor, but kept the same outside floor style for the walls. He also installed a bronze finished shower set, complementing very well with the rich browns of the floor tiles. And the final product was a exquisite shower that he had to show off by installing a tempered, clear glass, ceiling-to-floor enclosure, with bronze hardware as well.

The project was a major success. According to Guzheyedov his clients were very impressed at the subtle richness that pink tiles matching perfectly with the rest of the furniture.
